Maurice J. Kistabish is originally from Pikogan, Quebec, but is currently a member of the Apitipi Anicinapek Nation (formerly the Wahgoshig First Nation) in Ontario. In April 2021 he completed a tailor-made master’s degree at the School of Indigenous Studies at the University of Quebec in Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT). He is currently back at the University of Ottawa where he is studying to obtain a certificate in ancestral rights. Furthermore, Mr. Kistabish is currently a professor at the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Civil Law at the University of Ottawa. He worked in the field related to territorial rights and in negotiations related to natural resources for around thirty years. He also works on many diverse issues, including culture, to name just one.
